A major retrospective of the artist's career entitled aux couleurs du jour was presented at the Musée national des beaux-arts de Québec in the fall of 2003 until the spring of 2004 under the direction of Anne-Marie Ninacs.
“Inhabited by Canadian geography with its vast skies, its aurora borealis, by emotions disciplined by a Zen philosophy, she masters and despises the figurative, which for her is a crutch. It annoys him when people try to interpret his work. According to Rita Letendre, life is more than what we see. In his paintings, there is movement and fusion, meeting masses, colors, elements and emotions. […] Rita Letendre's paintings echo human emotions.”
