Canadian landscape painter René Richard depicts the solitary life of trappers in northern Canada. Having settled in Charlevoix since 1940, he creates works inspired by his memories and sketches made during his life as a trapper. The nomadic lifestyle of trappers in remote and hostile regions is well known to him. His experience as a coureur des bois makes him the only Canadian artist to have truly lived the harsh realities of this way of life.
