Le club de ballon-balai

The work of Miyuki Tanobe is characterized by its particular style, even unclassifiable. In a monograph devoted to the artist, Leo Rossahandler mentions that “although her works are figurative, they are not necessarily realistic or documentary. The deformations, the accents, the psychological deepening, the material, all this seems to indicate an expressionist tendency. However, it does not show the violence of execution that characterizes this style”.

To share her vision of Quebec culture and imbue her works with a very singular sensitivity, Miyuki Tanobe takes the time to observe his environment, the children who play as well as passers-by in their daily lives. Thus, she paints the portrait of a very lively and dynamic society, and this in all simplicity.
