The works of the painter Miyuki Tanobe are the mirror of daily life in Montreal. With his naive and good-natured style, Tanobe playfully documents his adopted country.

The works are created with nihonga, a Japanese artistic technique that appeared in the 19th century. This technique consists of the use of powdered color pigments crushed by hand and then bound with glue. This mixture is then applied with a brush and water. Crystals, sand and other materials are added to it to create a grainy surface.
