During the 1920s, Marc-Aurèle Fortin's reputation was well established everywhere in Quebec. He exhibits at the Art Association, the Watson Gallery and the Eaton Gallery in Montreal. At the same time, Fortin mainly produced oil paintings representing green Quebec landscapes. The greens that make up his works are rich and saturated. They contrast, as in the work Landscape of the Laurentians, with the tree's orange color near the rustic house. The palette used by Fortin enlivens its rural landscapes and allows the viewer to take a new look at this reality, which is still very much alive, even at the dawn of modernity.
