The early 1920s marked a turning point in Marc-Aurèle Fortin's stylistic career. Indeed, he left his post office in 1919 to devote himself entirely to his art, from where he can begin to experiment.

The works of the 1920s are then more daring in color, more defined features of the sky and clouds; it leaves definitively the vaporous and foggy atmosphere of the preceding compositions. This work is a beautiful premise of what Fortin will deliver, only a few years later, with its majestic trees imbued with light.
