Untitled (Port de Montréal)
The scene is brought to life by the presence of ships, warehouses and Montreal's grain silos which are now part of Montreal's industrial heritage. In the background, we can see the silhouettes of the city's buildings, including the Bonsecours church. The man in the foreground, seated and looking towards the port, adds a human touch which invites the viewer to share this moment of contemplation of the industrial landscape.
The details in this watercolor are fascinating, including the black Ford car parked at the edge of the quay and the steamboat arriving at its destination.
