An important figure in the new Spanish painting, Luis Feito participated in the creation of the artistic group El Paso, which originated from the Barcelona school. In the 1970s, the painter’s lyrical abstractions were simplified both chromatically and structurally. The size of the canvases increases considerably, reaching eleven feet wide, as evidenced by this work ''Composition'' 1973.
Feito’s iconic creations consist of a juxtaposition of saturated colors on a monochrome background. This aesthetic, which he developed after several artistic experiments, became his pictorial signature during the 1970s. The power of the compositions of this period lies in the bold game of contrasts between material and color through which Feito constantly redefines space. The monumental painting ''Sans titre'' is a remarkable example of this key period in the painter’s work. In the same year, Feito exhibited at the Gilles Corbeil gallery in Montreal.
