Rue Latourelle, Qc
John Little sensitively and accurately depicts urban life in the city of Montreal and Quebec. Throughout his career, the artist created views of Montreal where he paid great attention to the details of the buildings and the particularities of the neighborhoods. Which makes his works true visual documents testifying to daily life at the time.
Rue La Tourelle de Québec at the corner of Rue Sutherland. This street is part of Faubourg St-Jean in Quebec City. The end of the 19th century is characterized by the development of the middle class and the use of new types of architecture. This is when we see the Second Empire influence appear. This style is noticeable in Quebec City by the houses with mansard roofs. This shape of roof allows for two complete living levels, which makes it so popular with the middle class.
