Montreal painter John Little spent most of his career painting the streets of his hometown. The artist in no way neglects the architectural details so specific to Montreal homes. This thoroughness of detail and its realism, allows fans of the artist to experience the work as if it were indeed on the same street corner. This is also the case for the titled work, The trees of rue Berri, John Little takes the point of view of the pedestrian walking on the snow-covered sidewalk, a daily scene of the inhabitants of the district recalling the familiar gestures of all Montrealers.
