The Lizard with Golden Feathers is the result, in 1967, of a collaboration between Miró and art publisher Louis Broder. This book combines Miró's illustrations with his poems, originally published in 1945 under the title Jeux poétiques and reworked into a single poem. The lizard mentioned in the title, though absent from the text, is thought to symbolize the artist himself.

These parchment prints, signed and numbered, are artist's proofs. They are among the few surviving copies after the first edition was destroyed due to a technical issue. The Cosner gallery here presents plate III, one of the fifteen lithographs from the initial 1967 edition, signed by Miró in pencil at the lower right and marked "E.A." for artist's proof 9/10.

A new edition of The Lizard with Golden Feathers will be published in 1971, accompanied by new prints specially created for this version.
