The year 1946 was one of the most prolific for the artist. Dallaire's production had until then been limited because of his incarceration in France. Upon his return to the country, he was hired as an art teacher in Quebec. He takes up the brushes and mainly produces works in gouache. He applies himself and develops his style. According to Guy Robert: “He deploys effects of textures and quivering […] in eccentric still lifes. He enhances the compositions with brightly colored fabrics and papers. - Guy Robert, Dallaire, Editions France America, page 70.
