Léopold '' Paul '' Marier is born in 1914 in Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, Québec. He was a Canadian fly fishing champion and a great creator of fishing flies of international reputation. He was a great friend of the artist Jean-Paul Riopelle and Gilles Vigneault.
It is to the honor of Mr. Léopold Marier that Jean-Paul Riopelle creates the series of prints Mouches à Marier in the 1980s as well as this mixed technique.
