“A flock of white geese is order in disorder,” said Jean-Paul Riopelle.

From 1976, the large white geese were added to Riopelle's bestiary [...] He was fascinated by their migratory passage of more than 75,000 at Cap Tourmente, upstream of Quebec. The experience gripped Riopelle to such an extent that he sometimes returned to it in his later works,

The Cap Tourmente lithographs were made from uncolored drawings provided by Jean-Paul Riopelle to René Lemoigne, drawer-lithographer. The latter was responsible for finding the inks necessary for the creations of Cap Tourmente. The painter said to him: “You know,the geese forage in places where the earth is red.
