In 1980, McEwen accepted a position as a lecturer in the Department of Fine Arts at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. A solo exhibition of recent works at Galerie Jolliet in Quebec where this watercolor was exhibited. The Jolliet gallery was an important exhibition space in the old capital, offering a showcase of choice for Quebec's contemporary artists from 1966 to 1985.
