According to Hugues de Jouvancourt, Cornelius Krieghoff, is the first painter of the era from 1850 to 1900, called the “good old days” by the author, “where people live in joy and carefreeness, [...] ] the golden age of family reunions and parish activities, long saloon rides in the countryside, hunting, skating and sledding in winter."
