Galbraith Island is located on Lake Huron and more specifically in the famous Georgian Bay in Ontario. To the west of this island was the cottage of James MacCallum, a close friend of the painter whom he visited regularly. Jackson would go by canoe traveling from one island to another. Jackson was searching for the best place to settled a camp and equipped with his artistic tools, he illustrated the wild beauties of this region.

Jackson wrote: “Go Home Bay and the outer islands are filled for me with happy memories of good friends and of efforts…that I made to portray its ever-varying moods »
