Albert Henry Robinson left Hamilton in 1903 to pursue art training in Paris. During the following year, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and the Académie Julian. Much influenced by the impressionist current at that time, Robinson performs works with a spontaneous touch, although the scenes are always performed with great sobriety. Like the work Lowtide, a tranquility emanate from Robinson's scenes. These effects are made possible by the balance and the harmonious play of the colors of the composition.
