Lawren Harris

Lawren Harris was born in 1885 in Ontario and died in Vancouver in 1970. Canadian painter and founding member of the Group of Seven.
He began his studies at Central Technical School at St. Andrews College and completed his studies in Berlin.
Returning home in 1911, he met J.E.H. Macdonald. They found the Group of Seven together. From 1918 to 1919, Harris funded trips for his colleagues in the Algoma Park and Lake Superior region. He develops his many landscapes. Georgian life also becomes one of his favorite subject. He then went on to conquer the landscape of the West by painting the Canadian Rockies.
He received the Order of Canada in 1969.
