Georges Delfosse

Georges Delfosse was born in Quebec on December 8th, 1869 and died December 22, 1939. At once painter, illustrator, sculptor and muralist, Delfosse began his training at the Institute of Fine Arts in Montreal. It will then go to improve in France twice, though his stay was cut short by the outbreak of the First World War.
From 1890 Delfosse will be hired by several churches to paint decorative and religious scenes. It was he who painted the aisles of the Cathedral Basilica Notre-Dame-du-Monde in Montreal. During his career he painted Montreal and its old buildings, several personalities of the time including Sir Wilfrid Laurier, and many historical and religious scenes.
