Serge Lemoyne

Canadian painter, Serge Lemoyne was born in 1941 in Acton Vale, Quebec and died in 1998 in Saint-Hyacinthe.

Serge Lemoyne studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Montreal from 1958 to 1960. Inspired by the American artistic movements of that time, the artist creates events and participates in artists' collectives in order to bring art closer to general public.

His most famous work is undoubtedly the period of blue, white, red that refers to the hockey team of the Montreal Canadiens.

He inherited in 1978 from the family house which serves him pictorial support, a work of art in progression. The Superior Court of Quebec will find it right to classify it in 1993. However, the house will be set on fire in 2000.

The artist was the first to work on a computer in Quebec. This tool allows him to create the Screens series. In 1993, he made a controversial fresco for the Casino de Montréal. The fresco is then discarded in 2011 by Loto-Québec waiting to find a buyer.
