Stanley Lewis

Born in Montreal in 1930, Stanley Lewis was a highly skilled artist with a diverse range of talents in various mediums, such as sculpture, printmaking, and photography. He received his education from the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, where he had the privilege of studying under renowned artists like Arthur Lismer and Jacques De Tonnancour. He was a talented student and graduated with honours. Later, he continued his studies in Mexico and Israel. After returning to Montreal, he became a prominent figure in the local art community, and his studio became a hub for many artists. Lewis was also an influential teacher, having held positions at prestigious institutions like the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Saidye Bronfman Center School of the Fine Arts. His works have been exhibited in museums and galleries across the globe, and esteemed institutions like the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the National Gallery of Canada, and the Art Gallery of Algoma have collected his artwork.
