Joseph Giunta

Joseph Giunta was born in Montreal. He started painting at 14 years old. He then began his artistic training with Adrien Hébert and John Johnston. He then studied arts at the Monument-National and at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal under the teachings of Joseph Saint-Charles. In 1935-1937, he studied at the Copley Society of Artists in Boston in order to perfect his skills. Throughout his career, his artistic approach evolved into four main styles:
Figuration (1931-1958)
Gestural abstraction (1958-1975)
Geometric and baroque constructions (1971-1989)
Organic collage paintings (1974-2001)
For more than 60 years, Giunta has participated in numerous individual and collective exhibitions. He exhibited in the Quebec pavilion at the Osaka International Exhibition in 1970.
