Dietz Edzard

German painter
Dietz Edzard, born March 30, 1893 in Bremen and died January 8, 1963 (aged 69) in Paris, was a German painter, engraver and illustrator.
He worked in Berlin in 1911 under the direction of Max Beckmann and exhibited in Amsterdam in 1920. He moved to Bavaria and then to Lithuania, which he left in 1927 to emigrate to Paris. He first lived in Rue du Sabot then settled in Provence. In 1929, he presented at the Jeu de Paume at the Exhibition of Contemporary Painters-Engravers, three etchings: Couple lying, Two heads and Candles lit. He is also known for the illustrations of The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
The painter died at his Parisian home on Rue des Saints-Pères, at the age of 69.
