Helmut Gransow

Canadian painter , Royal Canadian Academy
Helmut Gransow was born in Chemnitz, Germany in 1921. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin. He emigrated to Canada in 1949 and settled the following year in Morin-Heights, Quebec.
He quickly exhibited his landscapes at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Royal Ontario Museum as well as several museums across the country. He became a member of the Society of Canadian Painters and Engravers and was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy.
