Nora F. Collyer

Canadian painter, Beaver Hall Group
Nora Elizabeth Frances Collyer was born in Montreal in 1898. She followed the teachings of Maurice Cullen and William Brymner at the Art Association of Montreal. She is part of the Beaver Hall group, mainly composed of women artists and chaired by Alexander Y. Jackson.
In addition to her career as an artist, Nora Collyer began teaching by becoming in 1925 art professor at the Trafalgar School. Then, she will be a volunteer teacher at the Children's Memorial Hospital in Montreal, as well as giving art lessons to children in her studio at her home.
The National Gallery of Canada dedicated a retrospective to her in 1969. She died in 1979.
