Alan C Collier

Alan C Collier was born in Toronto in 1911. Alan Collier studied with J.E.H. MacDonald and Franklin Carmichael at the Ontario College of Art from 1929 to 1933. After graduation, he traveled across the country and worked as a miner in order to earn enough money to attend Art Students' New York League. He will begin his apprenticeship in this institution from 1937, under the direction of Howard Trafton, from 1937 to 1939. During these years of study, he also works as an advertising illustrator. He continued this activity until 1942.
